Three kittens may have each used one of their nine lives after surviving the Lilac fire Friday.
“They’re cute, but they had a rough night,” County Animal Services Director Dan DeSousa said about the kittens, which appeared to be about three weeks old.
A Tweet from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department on Friday night reported that sheriff’s deputies patrolling a burned area of Bonsall found the kittens in a box and brought them to County Animal Services.
DeSousa said he heard the kittens were found under a house on Olive Hill Road north of Shamrock Road, but he wasn’t sure if the house had burned.
“They need love and care, and a bath,” DeSousa said about the kittens, which were taken to a foster home. Efforts will be made to find their owner, he said.
